Two places during a meeting
The live meeting page has two surfaces. Notes is where a meeting starts. You type your own notes there. The Reef is a quiet underwater place with small games and toys. Nothing in the Reef needs you to do anything. It is there for the moments when you only need to follow along.
Both surfaces sit behind the same recording. If you switch, KeptNote keeps recording, and it keeps what you typed.
Use the switch
A small switch with two parts, Notes and Reef, sits at the top right of the live page. It stays in the same place on both surfaces.

Notes during a meeting. The Notes and Reef switch is at the top right.
Press Reef in the switch. You can also choose Show Reef in the View menu, or press Option-Command-R.
To go back, press Notes, or choose Show Notes in the View menu. The same shortcut works both ways.
The View menu item reads Show Reef while you are on Notes and Show Notes while you are on the Reef. It is off when no live meeting is on screen.

What keeps running
- The recording keeps going. The bar at the bottom left shows the input level, the time, a pause button and a stop button. When the meeting is paused, the bar shows Paused and a resume button.
- Your typed notes stay as you left them. Switching never loses a word.
- The Reef makes no sound while a meeting records. The Sound switch is hidden in a meeting.
The Reef page has no note editor, no Ask bar and no transcript button. Go back to Notes for those.
The Reef does not react to the meeting. It does not show what people say. It does not use your audio. It is a separate scene.
Where each meeting starts
Every meeting opens on Notes. If you choose the Reef, that choice belongs to that meeting only. KeptNote does not remember it for the next meeting, and it does not remember it after you quit the app.
The Reef starts fresh each time you come back to it. KeptNote keeps your best scores and the choice to skip an intro. It does not keep the state of a game that was in progress.
If you leave the live page during a meeting, for example to open Home, a button appears in the header: Back to your notes or Back to the Reef, depending on where you were. Press it to return to the meeting.
The Reef outside a meeting
You can visit the Reef at any time. Press the fish near the bottom of the rail, which is named Take five, or choose Take five in the Window menu. The shortcut is Option-Command-5. Press Escape, or choose any place in the rail, to leave. Outside a meeting, Dive has a Sound switch. It is off until you turn it on.
If you start a recording while the Reef is open, the Reef closes and the new meeting opens on Notes.
Reduce Motion and Low Power Mode
If macOS Reduce Motion or Low Power Mode is on, Dive and Drift draw one still frame and stop moving. The other varieties rest when nothing is happening. In Low Power Mode, the Reef in a meeting sleeps. The Reef also sleeps when its window is hidden. There is no setting for this in KeptNote. It follows macOS.
