Sharing a Reef picture

Every Reef variety can make a picture of the water as it looks right now. You choose where it goes. Nothing is uploaded by KeptNote.

Share a picture

  1. Open the Reef and choose a variety. See Notes and Reef during a meeting if you need to find it.

  2. Wait for the scene you like. In Sand, draw something first.

  3. Press Share at the top right of the water.

  4. The macOS share menu opens. Pick where the picture goes, for example Messages, Mail or AirDrop. KeptNote adds one item at the end of the menu: Save Image….

In a meeting, the Share button sits just under the Notes and Reef switch.

It works while a recording runs. The picture has no sound, so it does not touch the recording.

Save it as a file

Choose Save Image… in the share menu. A save sheet opens on the window. Pick a folder and a name. KeptNote suggests a name such as KeptNote Kelp.png. The file is always a PNG. If a file with that name is already in the folder, macOS asks before it replaces it.

What is in the picture

  • The water only: the scene exactly as it looks now. The controls, hints, score and the ? button do not appear.
  • A small KeptNote mark and name in the bottom right corner. It is light on dark water and dark on light water.
  • The size of the water on your screen, at up to twice the pixels. A large display makes a large file.

The picture holds no meeting content. The Reef does not know your meeting’s title, notes or transcript, so it cannot draw them.

Where the picture goes

KeptNote does not upload the picture. It writes a temporary copy on your Mac and hands it to the macOS share menu. What happens next depends on the item you pick. KeptNote removes its temporary copies the next time you share, if they are more than a day old.
