Where this stands
KeptNote for Android and Wear OS is not on Google Play yet, so you cannot download it today. It opens on Nov 24, with the other devices. This article describes the first minutes with it, so you know what to expect.
What your phone needs
- The Android app
- Android 12 or later
- The Wear OS app
- Wear OS 4 or later
- A note drafted on the phone
- A phone that supports Gemini Nano
You do not need an account. On a phone without Gemini Nano, KeptNote builds a note from the transcript, and you can add your own AI key to improve it.
Get it and open it
Open Google Play on your phone and search for KeptNote. Install it.
Open KeptNote. Allow the microphone when Android asks. KeptNote needs it to record.
If you already own KeptNote for Mac, enter the code from your Mac in the app to add this phone. If you turn sync on, notes and transcripts are end-to-end encrypted on your devices.
The 14 day trial starts the first time you open the app. Nothing renews. After the trial, every meeting stays on your phone, readable and searchable. Only new recordings stop until you buy KeptNote in the app.
Record your first meeting
KeptNote on Android records the room, with the phone microphone. It cannot record phone, Meet or Zoom calls on that phone. For calls, use KeptNote on your Mac.
Put the phone on the table. Press Record in the app, or use the Record widget or the Quick Settings tile.
Recording keeps going with the screen off or locked. Pause, mark a moment or stop from the notification.
If a phone call comes in, KeptNote pauses and picks up again when the call ends. Everything recorded before the call is kept.
Stop the recording. KeptNote transcribes it on the phone and writes your note.
Read your note
The note lists decisions, follow-ups and next steps. Each line shows a time. Press the time to see the exact words and open the transcript at that moment. The transcript is the record. The note is a draft you can check.
