Get started on Windows

From the Microsoft Store to your first note: what your PC needs, how to record, and where the note is afterwards.

Where this stands

KeptNote for Windows is not in the Microsoft Store yet, so you cannot download it today. It opens on Nov 24, with the other devices. This article describes the first minutes with it, so you know what to expect.

What your PC needs

The app
Windows 11, version 22H2 or later
The chip

Transcription
On your PC

You do not need an account. KeptNote builds a note from the transcript on your PC. You can add your own AI key to improve the note and to ask your meetings questions.

Get it and open it

  1. Open the Microsoft Store and search for KeptNote. Install it.

  2. Open KeptNote. A short guided setup starts. You can skip any step.

  3. Allow the microphone if Windows asks. KeptNote needs it to record.

The 14 day trial starts the first time you open the app. It needs no card and no account. When you buy, the app takes you to keptnote.com to pay, and the key comes by email. After the trial, every meeting stays readable, searchable and exportable. Only new recordings stop.

Record your first meeting

On Windows, KeptNote records your microphone and the sound playing on your PC, so it can record an online call with no bot in it. For a meeting in the room, it records the microphone alone.

  1. Open KeptNote and press Record.

  2. Type notes while it records. Each line gets the time you typed it. Use Mark this moment to flag one.

  3. Stop the recording. KeptNote says Saving your recording, transcribes it and writes your note.

Read your note

The note lists decisions, follow-ups and next steps. Each line shows a time. Press the time to open the transcript at that moment. The transcript is the record. The note is a draft you can check.
