Get started on iPhone

From the App Store to your first note: what your iPhone needs, how to record, and where the note is afterwards.

Where this stands

KeptNote for iPhone is coming to the App Store. It is not there yet, so you cannot download it today. It opens on Nov 24, with the other devices. This article describes the first minutes with it, so you know what to expect.

What your iPhone needs

The iPhone app
iOS 26 or later
The Apple Watch app
watchOS 26 or later
A note written on the iPhone
An iPhone with Apple Intelligence

You do not need an account. On an iPhone without Apple Intelligence, KeptNote builds a note from the transcript, and you can add your own AI key to improve it.

Get it and open it

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for KeptNote. Install it.

  2. Open KeptNote. The first time you record, iOS asks for permission to use the microphone. Allow it.

The 14 day trial starts the first time you open the app. It needs no card and no account. See Your trial and license.

Record your first meeting

KeptNote on iPhone records the room, with the iPhone microphone. It cannot record phone, FaceTime or Zoom calls on that iPhone. For calls, use KeptNote on your Mac.

  1. Put the iPhone near the middle of the table. On Home, press Record.

  2. Press Start recording. Recording keeps going when you lock the screen.

  3. Type notes while it records. Each line gets the time you typed it.

  4. Press stop. KeptNote saves the recording, transcribes it on the iPhone and writes your note.

Read your note

The note lists decisions, follow-ups and next steps. Each line shows a time. Press the time to see the exact words, who said them and the moment, then open the transcript there. The transcript is the record. The note is a draft you can check.
